Kwame Akuffo of AFRIKart Gallerie and Kamini Corriette of Hibiscus are proud to bring Diverse Colours, a unique exhibition featuring outstanding works by artists originating from Africa to the Caribbean, to the Gallery at Willesden Green.

Diverse Colours is the first collaboration between AFRIKart and Hibiscus aimed at bringing regular collections together by outstanding artists from Africa, UK and Caribbean together

Diverse Colours (2008) features works by

Abushariaa (an outstanding Sudanese artist based in Nairobi);

Robert Aryeetey (one of Ghana's foremost painters, whose work was presented to the Queen on her last visit to Ghana);

Bruce Chidovori (A talented Zimbabwe artist, who is largely self-taught and who is now working as a full time painter);

African and Caribbean societies are populated by a microcosm of the world population and cultures: Black African, Indian, Middle Eastern, Portuguese Northern European and Chinese. This heady concoction of peoples and cultures throw up an amazing brew of languages, cultures, belief systems and symbols of life which co exist with a mix of schism, drama and dynamism but intrinsically remains well-balanced. It is such balance that has inspired AFRIKart and Hibiscus to come together to showcase works from these areas; works which are naturally diverse but yet grounded by something common, that comes from our common historical legacies, ethnicities and tropical landscapes.

Diverse Colours is an exhibition aimed at celebrating the different arts which have emerged and which may have more in common with each other than we give credit for. It celebrates diversity by accentuating the positive which we have not regularly seen.

Art Collectors and Curators, Kwame Akuffo and Kamini Corriette said, "We are very proud to have been able to assemble this great collection of work for our first exhibition in Willesden Green. Willesden Green and Brent are the heart of the Capital's Caribbean and African communities. We really look forward to a month-long celebration and hope to see as many people as possible".
