The 2006
People in Retail Awards were an outstanding success with hundreds of retailers partying the night away. The Retail Bulletin’s
'People in Retail' Awards 2007 will once again recognise that ultimately, it is people that make the difference in retail. Teamwork, enthusiasm, knowledge and commitment to customer service create the buzz that transforms an everyday shopping experience into genuine retail therapy.
The awards will honour those individual employees and teams who have shown the greatest commitment to their customers. Recognising that committed individuals can only flourish in the right
company culture, the awards will also honour the retailers who have done the most to empower their employees.
The awards are a great opportunity for retailers to see their staff recognised and rewarded by this prestigious external awards programme. They are free to enter, and open to all retailers, hospitality and leisure operators large or small and will be judged by a panel of senior retailers.

Do you have a potential Store Manager of the Year? Does your company deserve to be named as Retail Employer of the Year – imagine how that accolade could help with your recruitment drive? There are 12 categories in total.
Mark Higgins, editor of The Retail Bulletin (
www.theretailbulletin.com), said: "Everyone in a retail business can make a real difference. Often, the spotlight is on the personalities in the boardroom. The People in Retail Awards are an opportunity to balance the scales a little by focusing on the individuals and teams who make a contribution at all levels of the business, including the all-important front line troops."
Young Retail Ambassador of the Year
Young people are driving ideas and innovation within the retail industry. This award will go to someone enterprising who is making their mark - as a self-starter or an employee within a retail organisation. They will be someone who is turning their ideas into reality, driving forward not only their own development but that of the business and others around them. This is an opportunity for those in their teens and twenties to shine - wherever they are within the industry.
Judges will be looking for:
- A 16-30 year old, working in the retail industry full-time, part-time or self-employed
- Examples of making ideas happen – be it a new product, service or process
- Evidence of inspiring others to make their ideas happen at work - informally or through formal schemes
Make Your Mark in Retail is a national campaign to inspire young people (14-30) to be enterprising
- to make their ideas happen - within the retail industry. The campaign is working with stakeholders and partners to together highlight retail as a sustainable career of choice, providing realistic role models and showcasing policies and practices which are helping build an enterprise culture. Together we can unleash young people's potential and allow them to really make their mark.
